Clean Eating | Iced Coffee Mocha (1)

Spring is right around the corner, and I am already fantasizing about the day when I get to walk out onto my patio, with an iced coffee mocha in hand, and bathe in the sunshine while reading a good book.

I have been playing around with some iced coffee mocha recipes in my kitchen, and found the perfect combination for a clean eating iced coffee mocha recipe! This recipe has a prominent coffee flavor, with hints of chocolate and a slight sweetness from added honey. Here’s what you need:

The Ingredients

Coffee

Coffee is the main ingredient in this clean eating iced coffee mocha. You’ll just need one cup.

Honey

I have been avoiding using sugar as much as possible, and have been choosing alternative sweeteners. I added about a teaspoon of honey to 8 ounces of coffee. This was the perfect amount to make it slightly sweet, without going over board.

Unsweetened Cocoa

I went with an unsweetened cocoa powder to give it a perfect chocolate flavor, while still maintaining the integrity of a clean eating recipe. The unsweetened cocoa adds the perfect balance of chocolate flavor without over-sweetening the drink.

Whole Milk

My family only drinks whole milk, because recent studies show that full fat milk is better for most people (source). We usually buy organic, when the grocery budget allows for it. I find whole milk gives this clean eating iced coffee mocha a rich base that works well with the coffee, honey and cocoa.

I love that you mentioned making coffee cubes! I usually will pour my leftover coffee into ice cube trays (since for some reason I can never quite finish a cup!) and will use them when I make iced coffee! It’s such a clever trick!

Thanks for sharing! Question, should I let the coffee cool off or get to room temperature before pouring into an ice cube tray? Or can i do it directly after brewing? Thank you.

I personally let it cool first, so it isn’t super hot when you pour it into the plastic ice cube trays.

I like the idea of freezing the coffee into cubes, and I also like that you use honey instead of sugar. =)
