10 Craft Ideas To Do With Mermaid Coloring Pages

Mermaids are fun and adorable characters, and virtually all children love them.

Here are some terrific, inexpensive, and enjoyable crafts to make with those finished pages.

1. Caught in the Rain

Mermaids don’t mind being caught in the rain, but people do! That’s where this mermaid umbrella holder comes in.

Begin this craft with an ordinary plastic container or a mini garbage can.

The finished mermaid coloring pages should be used to laminate the inside and outside of the container. Make sure to seal the artwork with several coats of acrylic spray.

You now have a designer mermaid umbrella holder to use anytime!

2. Under The Water

To start this fantastic classroom activity, use a large sheet of kraft roll and have the youngsters decorate it with starfish, seahorses, and other underwater creatures.

Next, have them color their mermaids and embellish them with glitter, pom-poms, puffy paint, or other craft items.

Once they are cut out, use invisible glue to attach them to various places on the poster.

When the students sign their initials to the bottom, they have a beautiful poster to display in the classroom.

3. Clam Shell Mermaid

To make this easy, adorable craft, give each youngster an ordinary paper plate to be cut in half in a jagged or wavy pattern.

The pieces can be sprayed with craft paint or glitter, colored with pencils or markers, or simply left plain.

Once the youngsters have colored their mermaids, they should be cut out, and the halves of the paper plates can be glued around the cutouts as if they’re living in the clamshells!

4. Taking a Dive

This enjoyable craft begins with a piece of white poster board, to which the child should add blue tissue paper at the bottom.

A solid piece can be used, or the child can make “waves” with multiple pieces.

When the mermaid is colored and cut out, she should be glued to the poster, and the final piece of blue tissue paper glued across her middle.

This will make it look like she’s diving through the water!

5. One-of-a-Kind Photo

This fun craft is a big hit with all children but requires a printed photo of the youngster’s face.

When this is in hand, have the children color their favorite mermaid character and cut it out.

The mermaid’s face should then be cut out to leave a space for the photo.

Once the photo is mounted on a piece of stock paper or poster board, the mermaid cutout should be placed over the top, and the child suddenly becomes the mermaid!

6. Mermaid Collage Art

All youngsters enjoy making collages, and this one should begin with seahorses, starfish, shells, flowers, and other under-the-sea items.

When these are traced and cut out, they should be glued collage-style onto a piece of construction paper.

When the children have finished coloring their mermaids, they should be cut out and glued to the center of the collage.

The artwork should then be sealed in glassine and framed for a beautiful keepsake.

7. Tall Tails

To make this super cute hanging ornament, have the youngster color and cut out a mermaid, sealing it in contact paper and punching a hole at the top.

Using a paper plate that’s been painted or colored in the preferred shade, have the child create a spiral mermaid tail by starting at the outside and cutting inward in a circular fashion.

The “tail” should be attached to the bottom of the cutout, and several colorful pom-poms stapled to the bottom.

This comical long-tailed mermaid ornament can be hung in a doorway or window.

8. Mermaid Rocket

Who says mermaids have to stay underwater?

To make this adorable mermaid rocket, have the youngsters laminate empty paper towel cardboard with their mermaid cutouts using invisible glue.

At the bottom, two slits should be cut on either side of the cardboard roll, and handmade tails can be added by sliding them into the slits. These should be shaped like rocket launchers.

When two of these are added in a crisscross fashion, the mermaids will stand on their own, and it will look as if their tails are launching them into space!

9. Mermaid Suncatcher

To make this cute and crafty mermaid suncatcher, have the youngsters use a quarter to trace multiple tiny circles on construction paper and cut them out.

When the mermaid coloring page is finished, the circles should be glued to her tail in a linear pattern from top to bottom, and a layer of glitter can be added.

When the artwork is sealed in contact paper and cut out, the tail will look lifelike and shimmery, just like a real fish tail.

When hung in bright light, the effect will be amazing!

10.Unique Candle Craft

This engaging craft starts with a piece of flocked craft paper, preferably in blue or green, rolled into a cylinder with the ends taped together.

A pipe cleaner should be stapled to the inside and curved upward to appear as if it’s coming out of the cylinder’s center.

When a tuft of red or orange tissue paper is added to the top of the pipe cleaner, the ensemble looks like a burning candle.

When a mermaid is colored and cut out, she can be wrapped around the outer edge of the cylinder in a diagonal fashion for a beautiful and unique piece of artwork.
